                                                                                 Thoughts of the Artist

The camera cannot correct perception of space as can the human eye.

By capturing a particular moment in time, the photographer may convey a reaction into a sense of timeless universality.

Light reveals the unfamiliar and alters the familiar. Through the action of light and composition the photograph addresses itself and distinguishes a photographer's style.

The most important control is of course the vision of the creative photographer at the moment of exposure. The photographer perceives the essential qualities of the subject and interprets it according to his or her taste, judgment, and involvement. This characteristic is unique to photography and sets it apart from other ways of picture taking or making a sense of authenticity shared by no other picture making techniques as the camera does not lie.

Then, the photographer is an artist who creates, by all means available to him, an image which will communicate with its viewer. An effective photograph can disseminate information about nature and humanity.

In the lives of many artists there can be different creative periods arising out of the experiences of a particular time. These may seem to differ widely in expression, but are actually rooted in the same inward creative source, reflecting different insights at different periods of life.  Art divorced from life has no great significance.  To bridge this gap is not easy, but it is only when the gap is bridged that our life becomes integrated.  Then art becomes an integral expression of ourselves.
